Planning Our City

The previous state government stripped local Councils of many of their planning powers. As a result, developments have been given the green light without sufficient community input and the views of Council have been ignored.

Many large scale developments have the potential to threaten our historic heritage buildings and radically change the character of our streets. Residents should be consulted and we have a right to play a role in planning the city in which we live.

Adelaide is one of the world’s most livable cities. We risk losing this status, if we allow development without appropriate safeguards and community input.

As your Councillor, I will:

  • fight for historic heritage buildings to be listed
  • promote community consultation around planning decisions
  •  engage with the community around proposed developments and bring any concerns to the Council chamber
  • promote (low scale) affordable housing developments in the city that reflect Adelaide’s unique character
